Artist Signing Evaluation & Deal Review Support
Independent evaluation of prospective signings and the deal terms on the table.
Before your label commits money, time, and reputation to a signing, an outside evaluation is cheap insurance. This service provides a structured second opinion on prospective artists: music and performance assessment, audience and data review, background and professionalism checks through available public information, and development-cost estimation — what this artist will actually require to reach release readiness.
On the deal side, we review proposed terms from a business-practice standpoint: term length, options, royalty structures, advance and recoupment logic, ownership and licensing provisions, and exit clauses — flagging provisions that are unusual, one-sided, or likely to cause disputes later. This is experienced business guidance to inform your decisions and your attorney’s work, not legal advice or a substitute for counsel.
Evaluations are conducted personally by Ruben Burgos, UMG’s Architect & Founder, whose decades around deals in entertainment inform every assessment. His independence from the transaction means your label hears the unvarnished version — including when the right answer is to walk away.
The Objective
To protect your label from signings and terms that look exciting today and become liabilities tomorrow. The goal is confident, informed commitments your label can honor and profit from.
