Copyright & Publishing Education
Clear education on copyright, publishing, and ownership so you understand and protect your music.
Many artists sign away or simply lose money they never knew they owned. This educational service teaches the essentials every working musician must understand: how copyright works in compositions and recordings, what music publishing actually is, what administrators and publishers do, and how splits should be documented among collaborators.
Sessions are taught in plain language with the artist’s own songs and deals as working examples, so the knowledge is practical rather than abstract. Common pitfalls — handshake agreements, missing split sheets, unregistered works — are identified and corrected where possible.
Education is personally provided by Ruben Burgos, Architect & Founder of UMG Network Collective, who has spent his career teaching artists to protect themselves. This service shares knowledge; for binding legal matters, artists are always directed to a qualified entertainment attorney.
The Objective
To ensure the artist understands what they own and how it earns. The objective is informed decisions that protect the catalog for the life of the artist’s career.
